Over twenty years ago, long time friends Rich Kozik and Dennis Mahoney (who both worked for Tinley Park PD) were working together at a charity event when the thought occurred,
"Hey, why can't we do this for Tinley Park?"
So, they went to work. They enlisted coworkers both on the Fire Department as well as the Police Department to form the first board. They were able to drum up donations from many, many different sources and found out about families who could use a helping hand that Christmas. And this was all done BEFORE social media!!!!
We continue this tradition every year and hope to do so for many years to come!

Tinley Wish is a nonprofit organization that has been in existence since 1996. The organization raises money throughout the year in an effort to give back to community families in need.
Annually, members of the Tinley Wish Committee collect nominations for disadvantaged families from schools, churches and various humanitarian organizations. The committee reviews the recommendations and chooses nominees who are most in need of assistance. The only requirement is that the receiver must live in Tinley Park. A majority of the donations primarily come through individual sources. Village of Tinley Park employees host a dress down day in which the $2 they pay to come to work in casual attire is donated to Tinley Wish for a specified month. Additionally, an option to make a donation to Tinley Wish is periodically made available on local water bills. Village citizens have made contributions in amounts ranging from $1 to $10,000.

Since 1995, we have been bringing cheer to Tinley Park families...
Please help us this year on Giving Tuesday by allowing us to continue our mission for years to come!
